After having a Synovectomy (elbow clear out), I have developed Lymphodema. This is due to my lymph nodes in my elbow being damaged during the operation, and the arm / hand is now unable to remove the fluid which flows into the arm.
I now wear a compression sleeve and glove through out the whole day to keep the limb a normal size and the hand working okay.
Now it's warming up, you can imagine how uncomfortable the whole thing is. It comes in a not so lovely "American Tan" colour, which makes the arm look false.
Has anyone seen any modern equipment on any web sites ? I have tried "Funkyarthur" but to no avail. Any suggestions ??

Hi Jackie,

Welcome to the forum!
I'm so sorry to hear you got lymphodema after the elbow op.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about the compression bandages but hopefully someone on here will.
Hope you can find a more modern one.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Jackie

Welcome to the forum Jackie. The place to be for friendly chat, helpful advice and supportive folk ThumpUp

So sorry to hear about the post surgery problems you are having; very unfortunate to have surgery for one thing and to end up with something else as a result. My cousin has lymphodema in her arm after having had a radical mastectomy. She couldn't find any compression sleeves in the UK other than mucky brown products! I have just done a quick search and found two U.S. companies that look promising this one and this one ! Seem a bit pricey but there again so do the mucky brown British ones!! Good luck, hope you find something suitable.

By the way I'm Lyn, diagnosed with sero-negative RA 22 years ago and run the gamut of medication and several surgical procedures. I'm currently on Enbrel, Prednisolone, Naproxen and a few other bits and pieces. Methotrexate is off the menu ... temporarily LOL . Looking forward to getting to know you Jackie, do keep posting,

Lyn x

Hi Jackie

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about these problems but I hope the sites Lyn has linked to will help. I must admit, they do look much more funky and modern than brown!

Keep posting

Love Jeanxxx

Hi Jackie, and welcome to the forum. I`m sorry you have more problems after your surgery - I can`t help with your query, but hope you find a compression sleeve.

Take care,

Big thanx to you all especially you Lyn. Will have a good mooch and see what the Yanks can offer. I know the site has me as a "newbie" but I've actually been a member for years. When they upgraded the web site I think my history was deleted. Anyhow, I've had RA for approx 20 years. Now managed through mthx injections and Lodine and of course not forgetting the great team at St. Helens hospital. Most of my previous blogs are usually to the "Work" forum where Bob Campbell's advise is usually invaluble.
Work and free time permitting, will keep my eyes open for further blogs I can add any information on. Cheers, Jackie BigGrin
